Cosmopollen (serves 2)
- Ingredients:
- 1 shot glass Matawi Honey Gin (30ml)
- ½ shot glass Matawi Citrus Mead Mixer
- 1 shot glass cranberry juice (30ml)
- 2 teaspoons lime/lemon juice, freshly-squeezed
- Lime/lemon rind
- Ice
- Preparation:
- In a cocktail shaker with cracked ice, vigorously blend together all the ingredients (except the lime/lemon rind). Rub the lime/lemon rind onto the rims of 2 chilled martini glasses to release oils. Strain the cosmopollen into these glasses and drop in the rind – enjoy!
Vanilla Hive (serves 2)
- Ingredients:
- 1 shot glass Matawi Honey Gin (30ml)
- 1 shot glass Matawi Citrus Mead Mixer (30ml)
- ½ Passion fruit/granadilla juice, preferably fresh
- 1 Vanilla pod
- Ice
- Melaurea Mead Methode Traditionelle
- Preparation:
- Split and scrape out the vanilla beans from the pod, tapping into the fresh granadilla/passion fruit. Scoop out fruit and vanilla into a cocktail shaker, adding some cracked ice and all other ingredients (except Melaurea). Shake vigorously, straining equally into chilled champagne flutes (midway). Top with ice-cold Melaurea – enjoy!
Matawi Nelly
- Ingredients:
- ½ shot glass Matawi Honey Gin (15ml)
- 2 shot glasses Grapefruit Cordial (60ml)
- 1-2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice (5-10ml)
- 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
- Preparation:
- Vigorously shake all the ingredients In a cocktail shaker with cracked ice. Strain into a chilled champagne flute – enjoy!
Chilled Mead Cider (serves 4)
- Ingredients:
- 1 shot glasses of Matawi Honey Gin (30ml)
- 1 shot glasses of Matawi Honey Liqueur (30ml)
- Dash bitters
- A glass of apple juice, preferably cloudy/freshly squeezed (250ml)
- A glass of soda water (250ml)
- Ice
- Ground cinnamon
- Thin apple slices to garnish
- Preparation:
- Vigorously shake the ingredients (excluding the garnish) in a cocktail shaker with cracked ice. Strain into chilled glasses, garnishing with cinnamon-dusted apple slices.
Granadilla Meadjito (serves 2)
- Ingredients:
- 1 shot glass of Matawi Honey Gin (30ml)
- ½ Granadilla
- Crushed ice
- Dash of grated and strained ginger (ginger essence) (less than 1/2 teaspoon)
- Soda water (eyeball)
- Tonic water (eyeball)
- 1-2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice (5-10ml)
- Dash Honey (as desired)
- Mint leaves
- Preparation:
- Vigorously combine the Matawi Honey Gin, lemon juice, honey, a few sprigs of mint, and passion fruit in a cocktail shaker with cracked ice, muddling until the mint and passion-fruit are well pulped. Pour cocktail into 2 chilled tall glasses/honey jars with crushed ice, filling to ¾. Top, with tonic and soda water and garnish with mint – enjoy!
